M.R.: Hi Guys, thanks a lot for this unexpected opportunity. Well so we won't waste time and start:
You were playing in another band before TRIBE. Which band was it, why did it end and what was the main reason to start over again with TRIBE?

Paul: Nick and I played in a band called Creed (not the american one!) a few years back, we achieved a fair degree of sucess in the Uk, the main reason it came to an end was the guys in the band wanting to pull in different directions, both musically and on a personal level.. As life goes on people change, there was no big bust up or anything, it had just run its course.
Tribe is a different proposition entirely to our other band, we have learned a hell of a lot from our previous experiences, about ourselves and music, Tribe is about that, we will not do anything we dont feel right about. The songs are about experiences, issues that effect us, that kinda thing. There was no one reason why the band came together, it was a series of events that brought it about, a sort of domino effect!!!!.

M.R.: How did you get in contact with Sascha Paeth?

Paul: When we started writing for the album we had a few ideas who we wanted to work with, Sascha was top of the list from day one, we all loved his work, so we got our management to approach him, and send him some of our stuff.

M.R.: What is the work with him exactly like? Let us imagine it's one of our readers sitting in the studio working with Sascha. What can he/she expect?

Paul: Sascha is a totally incredible musician, as well as a great producer..he brings out the ideas from the band. We have just finished pre production in England where we spent a couple of weeks looking at the sixteen songs we had written for the album, Sascha looks at each part of the song and each instrument separately, and suggests ways to improve what is already there, so if a section of song is not so good, then we look at how it can be changed. He is a laid back person, but also very funny too. We really love working with him.

M.R.:  There is no Record Company shown on your myspace site. Do you make everything (studio, merchandise) on your own?

Paul: At the moment our management deal with all aspects of the business side of Tribe, we are very fortunate in having a good team to work with. It is a shame a lot of bands are not as lucky, they are misguided, cheated and lied to by people who they put thier faith in, I am afraid this is way to common place in the music business, its very sad that some potentially great bands never achieve anything through no fault of thier own.
 .
M.R.: Is there a special story behind the name of your band? TRIBE? Or do you just imagine that you all belong to one tribe and that's the reason why you are making such a cool sound? Why did you choose TRIBE ?

Paul: The name comes from a song we wrote way back, "the last tribe" about mankinds single-mindedness, I always really loved the idea behind it, and that title!, so when we where thinking of a name I suggested it, and the other guys liked it... I suppose it could also be construed as a band philosopy though!

M.R.: What are your main influences and why did you start making rock music? Cause we all wanna be big rockstars, driving fifteen cars.. (Nickelback ;-))  ?

Paul: We all grew up listening to rock and metal, so I suppose it was a natural progression that would play rock music!, as individuals we have very varied influences and musical taste though, personally I listen to bands like Nightwish, and Kamelot, but also some of the older bands too, I loved Iron Maiden when I was younger!, We also toured with Ozzy Osbourne in our old band, who was a big influence, and that was an incredible experience, as Nick and I grew up listening to him and Sabbath!.

M.R.: What is planned in your near future? Any gigs (perhaps a tour through Germany together with Angel House? Shit, I'm dreaming...)? When will your album be released?

Paul: We start phase two of the recording in a few days, we head off to Wales with Sascha to record till the end of the month, then over to Germany in March, we are hoping that we will have a finished album mid April. With regard to gigs we hope to get some shows sorted out for the summer, maybe even a festival or two. we really want to play in the countrys which have supported us, there are a lot of really great people out there, and it would be so cool to show our appreciation to them for their support.
